Suitable for Years 5 and 6, particularly those doing the Stage 2 Olave’s exam and the independent/private school exams.
Exquisite Details: Improving a Story!
Children will work through writing tasks of varying lengths, each designed to get the creative juices flowing and encourage students to write from new and unusual perspectives. Our coaching focuses on bringing out the writer in each individual so that they can cheer up a weary examiner with their unique take on any topic.
Children will receive individual feedback on their writing during the session and will work with an instructor to plan out their work as this is a common stumbling block for children.
The class will contain a number of timed writing tasks to prepare children for the challenges of working under exam conditions.
Don’t You Agree?
“Don’t You Agree?” explores how to sway an audience through the power of words.
This far-reaching class explores prompts from the Flint water crisis to squirrel clubs (we’ll explain later) to make persuasive writing engaging and real for your child.
By the end of the session, your child will deftly deploy the key techniques required to create a powerful piece of persuasive writing.
