After 6 months off, the return to school in September is going to be mentally and physically challenging for kids, which leaves little time and energy for 11+ preparation.
If your child is sitting their 11+ exams this autumn, it’s important not to let things slip once they’re back at school. 10-minute tests are probably the best way of staying on track whilst avoiding battles and burnout. Try to work through a few 10-minute tests a week, perhaps in your child’s weakest subjects to keep their 11+ work fresh in their mind.
Amongst the recommendations below, you’ll see the Bond Comprehension book for ages 10-11. This is a very challenging book that is a bit above the level needed to do well in the 11+. If your child struggles with comprehension, you may wish to opt for the 9-10 book instead. This will mean that your child can stay on top of their 11+ English work without undermining their confidence.
