Suitable for Years 5 and 6, particularly those doing the Stage 2 Olave’s exam and the independent/private school exams.
Constructing Powerful Sentences
The best creative writing elicits a physical reaction from its reader – when a sentence is truly vivid, we can contort our faces in disgust or widen our eyes in awe. This session uses video, illustration and sample writing to help children identify exactly which elements make a reader engage and learn how to emulate these in their own writing.
Children will learn the importance of drafting and refining their work and will practise translating the images in their minds into powerful sentences on paper.

These classes will be recorded for staff training purposes. Class recordings will not be shared beyond this. By purchasing this class, you agree to your child’s face and voice to appear in this recording.
Cancellations received at least seven days prior to the course start date will be refunded less a £5 administrative fee. Cancellations received after this will not be refunded but participants will be provided with materials from the lesson.
Feedback on writing produced in this class may be provided in verbal or written form. Kin Learning reserves the right to refuse to provide further feedback on individual work that has already been discussed.
